Figuring It Out As I Go…

{July 2, 2007}   Fuddruckers

Well, we made it home in one piece. We had so much fun, and it was just what we all needed! I’ve never taken the kids on a vacation before, and I’ve never gone on any real vacation like this, so it was great! The weather down there couldn’t have been better, and when we got home at 4 this morning, the kids said they wanted to go back there where it’s basically the same temp all the time 🙂 So I’m pretty sure we’re moving 😉

We ended up only doing the Zoo and Legoland. We spent 6 hours at Legoland and didn’t feel like going anywhere else afterwards, then yesterday we went to the Zoo, but Ty and Ariel were both sick by then, and Ty was NOT feeling the whole walking up and down hills just to see some animals. For rides, maybe. For animals, he wasn’t diggin’ it. So we probably only saw a quarter of the stuff there. It’s ok. I wasn’t impressed either. Seemed like every other exhibit was birds, and let’s face it, you can see birds anywhere! I’d go back to Legoland though! It was so much fun 🙂

Obviously there’s a ton we didn’t have time to do. Next time I think I’d like to go with no babies and walk around downtown SD and go through some museums and art galleries. Guess I need to start planning my next vacation 😉

So since everyone was sick (I wasn’t sick yet, just burned) I decided we’d drive home last night, which worked out great! The kids slept the entire drive, except for when I had to wake them to potty, we hit VERY little traffic, and all of the lights were gorgeous! Definitely a drive to make at night in my opinion!! It also allowed me to just zone out, listen to music, and reflect on life and such. All was going well until an old song by Randy Travis came on…it’s called Walked on Water I think. Made me think about my Uncle, which made me tear up. It’s amazing how much I still miss him and how much it still hurts 😦 Thank Bob for my Sirius, because I was able to follow that teary song up with some acoustic Dave, and then of course some Color Me Badd and NKOTB! Yes, you read that right, and I was singing along just like I was 12 again 😀 Have I mentioned lately how much I love my Sirius?? Yeah, 1276 miles driven total, with no commercials and no static. Doesn’t get any better folks!!

So, hands down, great trip. The kiddies and puppy were great, everyone had fun, and aside from my burn that required the doc checkin’ it out today, we’ve all got some great memories! I took a ton of pics, and eventually they’ll all be uploaded. At that point I’ll print some out for the kids so they can make scrapbooks to remember our trip by 🙂

Oh, my ear. It’s doing great. I know you guys were wondering 😉 I love it so much, and I’m so glad I did it!

And now, things I learned on this vacation:

  • I’m stronger than I thought, and going on vacation with my babies alone is just fine, even when people bang on my door at midnight
  • Motorcycle cops in So Cal cut through traffic at 80
  • There are only about 5 cops in all of So Cal, and none of them care that my windows are tinted
  • There are only about 4 Starbucks between here and So Cal
  • I have some of the best friends ever!
  • My car gets 30mpg even when I’m driving like an asshole in So Cal
  • SD is gorgeous, and working at Legoland will be fun
  • There are a TON more Starbucks between So Cal and here…I think they only open them and put the signs out at night
  • Swallowing knives hurts and is just plain silly…you shouldn’t do it
  • Vacation is fun, and should be done more often!

{July 2, 2007}   Febreeze

So just an update. I’m not sure when I’ll post my big random blog. I’m sick. My throat hurts. Apparently the cold both kids had I have now. We also made a quick trip to the doc per Sarah’s advice, and yeah, I’m fried. She told me to keep clothes and stuff off of it because it’s raw and blistering and gave me some numbing stuff to put on it. So I’m resting. Trying to get rid of my fever and just overall feel better. Ariel is out back planting flowers right now, and Ty is napping, as he’s still sick too. Fun times. I’m randomly uploading pics when I wake up from my little cat naps 🙂

{June 30, 2007}   12:27AM

So, yeah, I can’t sleep.
Actually, that’s a lie, I was sleeping.  Until someone knocked on my hotel room door.  Of course it woke me right up!  The first thought that goes through my head is “Oh shit, what the hell am I doing here ALONE???”  Yeah, I’ve had that thought a few times, but we’ll come back to that.  So I look out the peep hole, and it’s 3 guys.  And they knock again, harder this time.  At this point, I’m yelling through the door that they have the wrong room.  They obviously can’t hear me though, because the “ring leader” points at my running A/C and says something about we must be here because the A/C’s on.  Yeah, my room is the only room in this packed hotel with the A/C on.  Right.  And why can I hear them but they can’t hear me?  WTF??  So then he pounds on the door a 3rd time.  My kids are still snoring (I swear they can literally sleep through ANYTHING!!!!!)  My heart is beating so hard at this point I think people back home can hear it!  And these guys show no intention of leaving.  So I’m weighing my options in my head…open the door with the latch on and pray to Bob, Allah, Buddah and Zeus that it isn’t the biggest mistake of our lives, or wait to see how many more times they’ll pound on the door and how badly my kids will freak if it wakes them up.  So I open the door on the latch, and tell them they have the wrong room.  The Ring Leader looks at me, asks if I’m some woman’s name that I couldn’t quite make out, and then just stares at me, as I again tell him he has the wrong room.  Then all of a sudden I see the light bulb come on for all 3 of them as they all 3 start saying things like “Oh shit” and “I’m so sorry!” and backing away.  I just shut the door, shaking like a damn leaf, trying to decide who is getting a midnight wake up call from the girl who still can’t believe she thought making this trip alone and with 2 children was a good idea.  I look down at my phone, and there’s a new message on it.  Someone that was trying to look at my pics and was having problems.  So I snatch my phone up and just call, knowing obviously they’re awake, and talk for about 25 minutes until I’m no longer shaking.  But now I’m wide awake.  And the guys have walked back and forth a few times….sounds like maybe they finally found the right room now though, as all is quiet again.
In other news, Ariel is oh so officially sick.  We went out in search of a store earlier to get some drugs for her so she can semi-enjoy herself this weekend.  I’ve got her doped up good right now, and it almost sounds like she’s breathing, so maybe there’s hope yet!  Oh yeah, back to our shopping trip.  So we ask the hotel guy where the closest store is.  He gives me seemingly simple directions, which I promptly screw up, so we just keep driving along the freeway, hoping the for the best.  We come upon a Wally World…but not just any Wally World folks, a 2 story Wally World, complete with it’s set of escalators, one of you and one for your cart!  Greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.  Of course I took a camera phone pic like the retarded tourist I am, and it’s in my Flickr, along with some cute pics of the kiddies, happy to be out of the car before Ariel realized she was dying, and then one of her and Frankie sleeping after the first set of drugs kicked in.  Cute stuff!
Oh yeah, and on the way home from Wally World, I have no idea how to get back to the hotel, so I’m asking the kids, and basically just going with what they say, because what’s the worst that can happen, we get lost and I wonder again why I’m here alone, or why I didn’t get the GPS?  Oh, that is bad.  Eh.  But my kids, they get us back here, like aside from a turn or 2, they were right on the money!  I was so impressed!!  Apparently we all 3 do make a great team 🙂
Alright, I’m going to try to get some sleep.  We have a big day planned, full of Lego Land and Belmont Park.  Wish me luck with the sick one!!
Oh, and I’m not linking to anything, because I’m way too retarded for that right now.  This not sleeping shit is wearing on me!
Nighty night!!

{June 29, 2007}   Holy Shit!

We made it, alive and in one piece!!!! Minus the fact that Google lied about the mileage, and the road construction in some random little town which required a detour for me, it all came off without a hitch. Oh yeah, and the 54 stops we made so one or more of us could pee. But for the most part everyone was good, well behaved, and quiet.
Now on to the important stuff.
Do you people know how many Starbucks there are out in BFE???? Seriously. Like 1. Between home and here. Ok, maybe 2. But not nearly enough!!!
Oh, and my blinkers, on crack. Not sure why, because as far as I can tell, all of my lights are working. Whatev.  And the girl, sick.  Has a cold.  Nice!
Alright, we’re going to dinner. On foot. Because none of us are interested in the car right now. But we’re in San Diego bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, thanks for keeping me occupied and sane by text ya’ll!!!!!!

{May 25, 2007}   My Blue Eyed Boy

This is the face of a sick boy…fever of 101.6 right here. By the time we got home it had risen to 102.1, which is where it is now. I am a fever PRO, as Ariel had seizures with her fevers, so I should have it knocked down in no time flat! My poor love bug. I feel so bad when they get fevers, because we all know how horrible a fever can make you feel, and the boy will just get sad and defeated and cry 😦 Breaks my heart! He’s dozing right now, so I’ll be visiting blogs instead of cleaning my car like I should be doing…currently in my backseat: a towel, Ty’s swim trunks, the big bad blister shoes, a weeks worth of mail, Ty’s backpack and probably some cheerios. Nice huh 🙂 I’m heading up to my Aunt’s house this weekend, so ya’ll will have some pics and silly stories upon my return 😛 Hmmm, maybe I should do some laundry in between blog reading…

{April 11, 2007}   It’s Official

I’m a functioning part of the real world again!! Today is my first day back at work, and it feels pretty good. Everyone has been super nice, and telling me how much they missed me. Eh, they just missed all the work I do 😉
That means it’s time to get my butt back in the gym! Hopefully I’ll start going tonight, we’ll see how tired I am when I get home! I’m still used to napping during the day!
So I’m feeling better. I have to see a specialist for my bladder/kidney problem as this has been an ongoing thing, and even being on antibiotics these past 6 months, I’m obviously still sick. You should see my arms though, I look like I’ve been shooting up, between all the blood draws and IV’s!!
I also wore my sunglasses finally for the first time yesterday! WooHoo! My nose is still pretty tender, and I have to adjust them a lot while they’re on. I also can’t do things like rub or wash my nose, I can only let the water run on it, and God forbid I accidentally try to scratch it, because if I bump it in the process it brings tears to my eyes. But I can breathe, and soon the swelling and pain will be gone. Success? Yes!!
Oh yeah, I’ll also start replying to comments again! And I may be a bit slower on reading blogs, since I have to work again (GASP!) but I’ll still get to all of them every day!
Have a great humpday folks!
