Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Welcome to my first ever Sunday Six, brought to us by the lovely and talented Kelly. Answers to the following questions were provided by almost 9 year old, Ariel!

1. Why do we start the new year on January 1?
“Uhh, because it’s the first day of the year?”

2. What is a New Year’s Resolution?
“I don’t know, I don’t even know what resolution means!”

3. What do you do to celebrate the New Year?
“I spend time with my family, and sometimes with my friends.”

4. Do you think you can stay up all night to greet the New Year at Midnight?
“YEAH!!”

5. What will you miss most from the old year?
“Hmmm, I don’t know.”

6. What do you want to do this year?
“Meet more friends in our new town”.

(and bonus – tell us your wish for Jack on his 6th Birthday – he is a New Year’s Baby!)
“A Very Happy Birthday!!”

{December 31, 2006}   Saturday Photo Hunters – New
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Welcome to my first ever Saturday Photo Hunters! I fell across this through Marianne, and today’s theme is “New” I’ve been struggling with this all day, but have decided, what the hell! Today’s picture is my new face:

This allergic reaction is courtesy to a new foundation I tried, and unfortunately, liked. Needless to say, it will never come near my home, let alone my face, again!!! I’m in so much pain, and overall I feel horrible. I’m dizzy and nauseated and tired, and it seems like today is 10 times worse than yesterday, when it first started!
I went to the doc, and she said there’s nothing really she can do, except give me Benadryl and Advil, and let it run its course, unless of course I start having difficulty breathing. The fact that it’s started to spread onto my neck, where no foundation touched, is making me a tad nervous.
Nevertheless, makes for a great “New” picture!

{December 27, 2006}   Three Word Wednesday

Welcome to Three Word Wednesday, courtesy of Bone. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of the words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. This is a writing exercise. It doesn’t have to be perfect. The idea is to let your mind wander and write what it will. I’ll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

This week’s words are:
Snapped
Hill
Leather

As he walked away from her, she felt something deep inside her snap! She was done, done with him, done with her job, and done with this town! She went into her room, slammed the door, grabbed her leather suitcase, and started throwing clothes in there. Nothing specific, some undergarments and jeans, sweaters and shirts. When she was done, some of her anger was spent, and all that was left in its place was a sense of defeat. She wasn’t able to make it work, again. She was moving on, again…
She walked over to the window seat and looked out at the hill that she would never see in full bloom again.
But it was ok. It was all going to be better soon, because it’s much less lonely to be alone, than lonely with someone…

{December 27, 2006}   My Song

I have a penchant for sending blank emails. I think I get too excited, and just start pushing buttons randomly. Or maybe it’s my impatience that makes me click the same button multiple times, so that when the next page loads, I’ve already sent the email. Either way, it’s become an epidemic for me, so much so that my friend Sarah wrote me a song:

AHEM ~
Blankety Blank Blank …..
Blankety Blank Blank…….
Look at Arlene go
Blankety Blank Blank
Blankety Blank Blank
Emails as white as snow!

Um, I’ll forget to tell you that I tend to do the same thing with text messages. Sorry guys 🙂

{December 14, 2006}   Much Ado About Nothing

Let’s see…what’s new in my life…

I’m really loving my job, and I almost feel like I know what I’m doing sometimes 🙂 Everyone I work with is wonderful though, including my boss!

Avon is going well so far. I have some orders, and hopefully I’ll get more. If nothing else, it’s occupying me and making me happy 🙂

I think I forgot to mention my new collection of tickets. I got one about a month ago for an illegal U-Turn that I’m fighting on Friday, and I got one a couple weeks ago for having my front windows tinted. You see, here in good ‘ol Cali, it’s illegal to have your front windows tinted. Mine are not only tinted, my windows are black all the way around 🙂 So, I guess I have to take my tint off, which is fine, I knew that would eventually happen when I put it on, and with any luck, my fine will be reduced on Friday (I don’t think I’ll win!)

Now, on to the fun stuff!! Mr. Patch is doing so well!! He’s potty trained, already, and hasn’t had an accident since the day we brought him home! We still watch him closely, just in case he forgets that he’s a big boy, but he’s doing great with it!! He goes everywhere with me, except work of course, and loves being in the car. He just lays down and goes to sleep in the passenger seat. Boy is Ariel going to be in for a shock when she finds out she now sits backseat to the dog!! Although finding out about the dog will fix that I’m sure 🙂 Now being on a leash, that’s a WHOLE OTHER TALK SHOW!!!! He’ll follow me around outside all I want, but as soon as I put his leash on, he freezes into a sitting position, and won’t budge to save his life! Thank God puppy training starts soon 🙂 He still doesn’t bark though, unless we’re playing, and then of course there’s barking and growling and all kinds of cute puppy stuff 🙂 He’s going to be the best dog ever!!!

Well, I think that’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll come up with more later 🙂

{December 12, 2006}   Jerks!!

So last night, between about 6:30 and 7pm, some jerk sliced open our blow up Snowman and Santa Clause, with our house lit up like daylight, the blinds wide open, and me sitting on the couch reading!!! I couldn’t believe it, and I’m still pretty pissed! Not only was it just plain mean, but that’s about $40 down the drain!!
John saw the footprints going across our lawn, ’cause they were pretty close to our house, so the jerks had to walk all the way across our lawn to get to them!
I figure it was kids, and seeing as it was so early, it was probably some type of dare. JERKS!!!!

{December 8, 2006}   Christmas Songs

I think I’ve mentioned, Christmas is my favorite time of year. I’ll typically start decorating the day or so after Thanksgiving, wanting to see my lights and such as long as possible!
This is also the time I start listening to Christmas music. We have one station here that will start playing ONLY Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving, but around the first week of December, all of the stations will start playing their own renditions of Christmas songs.
I’ve come to a realization…I HATE it when pop stars sing Christmas songs. They ruin them! As someone who loves music as much as I do, it takes a lot for me to say a song can be ruined, but when you take a Bing Crosby song, and let Britney Spears sing it, it really just kills the song!
So, here’s my solution. How ’bout the one station stays dedicated to wonderful Christmas tunes, and the other stations stick to the music they know 🙂

Thanks for listening, this public service announcement is now over!

{December 1, 2006}   Dumbass!

On my messed up ankle, I thought it would be appropriate to wear heels to work today, justifying it by telling myself that the heel wasn’t that high, and they’re boots, so they offer more support.

BULLSHIT!!!

My ankle hurts so bad tonight I could honestly cry, and I feel so damn dumb for doing it, because I know better. I’m just too impatient to wait for it to heal. I think I’ve learned my lesson though, ’cause tonight sucks 😦

I also had it re-xrayed yesterday, and my doc said it is healing, and I have to start my physical therapy now. I started doing it tonight, which didn’t make it feel any better. He said now that I’m doing the exercises, it’s going to hurt more, and I’m probably going to get charley horses in the bottom of my foot, where the ligaments, tendons and muscles all connect to the bones on the bottom of my foot. Yay for me right? HA!

Anyways, the moral of my story is this:
Listen to the doctor, meaning, use your crutches, stay off your ankle, and don’t wear heels!!

Catch my drift? Everyone knows I’m a dumbass except me, yet I’m the one that has to deal with the pain, which is the part that makes me the dumbass. Follow all that? If so, go ahead and start your therapy now, you’ll need it 😉

Have a great night folks!
